UPCOMING EVENTS

August 25, 2010

Great turnout at last night's Wine Tasting! Thanks to our hosts Amerigo and Boonedocks Distribution, and to all who came. Stop by for a bottle or case*** of the featured wines before we run out and have your own tasting at home!

*** Grapevine special discounts and special ordering are available for event participants.

For those who couldn't make it, our featured wines included:

La Montecchia Fior D’Arancio NV
The name Fior d’Arancio comes from a gentle hint of citrus fruits, the hallmark of this yellow Moscato, which is typical of the volcanic soil in the Euganean hills.

La Montecchia Fior d’Arancio Spumante
Made from orange blossom yellow moscato grapes. Characterized by a pale yellow color with green nuances and an intense aroma with hints of orange and lemon. It has a fine, velvety perlage and a sweet, harmonic and persistent taste. This wine is an excellent accompaniment to fruit tarts and biscuits after meals.

2008 Vestini Trebbiano
A typically crisp and fresh dry white wine with no wood or residual sugar. Lively and appealing, this wine is characterized by its excellent fruity and balanced acidity to cleanse the palate. It is the crisp, fresh style of wine which Italians drink daily. Best served with seafood dishes.

2008 Sassotondo Rosso
Characterized by a light and vivacious ruby red color and an intense and persistent bouquet with notes of blackberry, cherry, plum and a touch of black pepper. On the palate it is dry, warm and soft, thanks to the inobtrusive tannins and enveloping structure.

2005 Badia di Morrona Taneto Super Tuscan
This is a Super-value Super-Tuscan, blended from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot. From calcareous soils, the vines are low yielding and densely planted. Maceration of the bunches takes place over 10 days, after which the wine is aged in French barrels for 12 months and left in the bottle for another 5 months before release. Intense garnet color and pronounced aromas of cherries and currants with herbal notes. Full-bodied and dense, the texture is velvety and elegant.
